Most typical British homes have some loft insulation, between the joists and but you need more then that and more then government recommendation of 300 millimeters. Most of the people don`t know that missing or insufficient insulation makes the home 50% less efficient. Good insulation stops this by acting as woolly hat for your home, trapping the heat inside so you need less energy to heat it constantly.
Insulating your loft can mean major savings on energy bills. Someone living in a semi-detached house with no lost insulation could save £640 a year by fitting 270mm insulation in their loft, the Energy Saving Trust said.
